The 60th year of the Columbus Day Regatta in Miami was held last weekend, Oct. 11 & 12, 2014. Seventy eight enthusiastic entries competed in eleven classes – including Serious Racers, Weekend Racers, Family Racer/Cruisers, Gunkhole (older slower boats), Multihulls and two classes with disabled sailors. The Freedom Class from Shake-A-Leg were all disabled sailors using boats adapted to help them. And in the ARC-2 class, five of the boats were sailed by people and military veterans with disabilities.
Although the winds were a bit lighter than expected on Saturday, the weather was beautiful and the contenders had a wonderful two days of competitive sailing. And the CDR Conquistador Dinner & Dance at Shake-A-Leg in Miami was a total blast.
Sea Hawk Paints was a sponsor of this regatta and two of our south Florida reps, Brad Kleinsasser and Bob Brammer, were at all of the events and shared many great conversations and fun times with the sailing teams. Michael O’Keene, Sea Hawk’s Marketing Director, was also there doing photography.
A big shout-out and thank you to George Allen, the captain of the chase boat we were on. We couldn’t have gotten the photography without you and your awesome Jupiter 31!
We hope you enjoy the photos from the CDR! A few photos from Marco Oquendo are in the mix. Thanks, Marco! To view the photos, go to this Facebook link: http://on.fb.me/1DfJ0sm
